Can the Yamaha V1600 apply PLIIX on 5.1 PCM for 7.1?

I've been trying to get this question answered and no one seems to have a clear answer. I was hoping someone with Blu-ray or HD DVD can help me out here. I'm looking for a transition receiver for the time being and found a good deal on the V1600.

Yes, to the best of my knowledge it can. When I hooked up my old room mates PS3 to my system, I'm pretty sure I did this.

But you're not certain, right? Thanks for the post still. Can anyone confirm?

And I also don't mean analog out either. But by HDMI. my PS3 has no analog out. It's HDMI or nothing. Optical can't pass 5.1 PCM.

I have a 35 foot HDMI cable going to the projector. That's it. I bought the HK 247 and found out it can't overlay PL2X via HDMI on 5.1 PCM for 7.1. That was a major bummer as it sounded great. Since my projector is 720p, the v1600 would be fine as long as I can use all my speakers when listening to an uncompressed or True HD track from Blu-ray or HD DVD.

The Yamaha 661 can, I am 100% sure as I do it everyday. I am not sure about the 1600.

I also have a 35 ft. HDMI cable going to a 720p projector. I can confirm that works too:D

I know the 661 can, but it doesn't upscale component to HDMI, which means I'll need to order another 35ft cable. And the price on the 1600 is cheaper than a new 661.

I had the PS3 hooked up to my RX-V1600 via HDMI. If I had access to a PS3 and a blu-ray disc, I'd happily try it again to make sure, but I only have a xbox 360 elite.

Have you contaced Yamaha to ask? If anyone would know it would be them.

Yeah, I ran HDMI, component, SVGA, and an inch and a half conduit to the projector before the walls were up. I suggest you do the same if you can. The component and VGA cables are dirt cheap from monoprice.

Good Luck!

The RX-V1600 doesn't have video upscaling. It does have format version from component or other analog video to HDMI.
