Can I get sound from a soundbar that rivals my real system?

Yeah I see what you mean. There isn't anything wrong with quoting good resources.
I guess I'm just stubborn and I'd engineer the heck out of all of it to make it work - if I loved the speakers/setup.
Really, you'd need to redesign the speakers to work in a cubby. At a minimum that'd require reworking the crossovers, but I'd bet there's even more involved than that. At that point you might as well look into speakers already made to do the job.

OP that's really where you're at, at this point. You asked about distances from boundaries earlier. I'd say the further the better, but at a minimum I'd want at least 8" to a foot. Not to say it can't work even closer, but you may well have some issues with reflections and boomy bass. If you wanna go in wall, then you'll need to find some speakers designed to work that way. Off the top of my head Triad (@DigitalDawn sells Triad speakers) and RBH have some offerings that are pretty good. There are some others, but good in walls ain't cheap. Personally I'd stick with what I have and make it work. I prioritize sound quality over aesthetics tho.

@NINaudio @lovinthehd @Pogre Thanks for the discourse, I'm always open to learning - or as they say, being learnT.
Hey, you bet, and right back at you!

I like learning new things too, and I've learnt a lot since joining this site.
