Thanks Bmtrix! I totally forgot about the cat5e because it was in the electrician's contract so I didn't run it myself, he did.
I actually did run a double cat5e from the closet to a remote location thinking of potential future uses, but the rest of the Ethernet cable was done by him. I think I know what to do now.
