Cambridge Audio S30 vs PSB Alpha B1

Cambridge Audio S30 is not available for audition. I had a pair of Alpha for few days in early 1990 and returned it.

Can anyone suggest which one is better? It will be the only speakers in a small room?

That's one hell of a lively enclosure--the PSBs that is. Then again it seems like everything they make resonances like a bell.

Neither.
Small rooms require directional HF control to prevent excessive, strong early reflections degrading the speakers clarity/spatial performance.
Something like the Behringer B2030p would be preferable. Dirt cheap too.
None of the choices have any deep bass, so a small sub at some point might also be desirable unless you are ok with very modest LF extension and output.

I heard the S30's before and I thought they sounded pretty darn good for a small bookshelf. Almost picked some up, but I already have too much. I know, poor excuse. I'd love to hear the psb's too, but what I really want is some Paradigm studio 20's!!
