Can I use DVD Essentials in calibrating my 1080p LCD or do I need the Blu-Ray version?

I believe you're welcome to use the regular dvd version...the bluray version is remastered in 1080p, includes better menu navigation and some more explanations of new technologies. You certainly don't need the bluray version, and from what I've read I don't think you'll really get different results.

the bluray version will not give you any better results than the dvd version. you will get a little more explained & the video will look better while your watching it but the settings will make your tv look identical in the end. dont waste your money getting it in BD if you already have it on dvd. Have fun & enjoy you newly calibrated display!!

I was able to swet my black levels and to some extent my contrast ratio although the LCD does not behave like a CRT. I get very little bloom when I crank the contrast ratio...so I'm not sure if this correct Video Essentials DVD to use.

I'm loaninng this from my library and of course the blue, green and red filters are missing. Where can I pick up these filters? I don't think any translucent blue material is the way to go. I'm sure these filters specif to a certain wavelength of blue.

Any ideas?

Blue-only...maybe?

Does your display or receiver offer a blue-only mode?

This a possible option that you could use to set color and tint if you don't have filters or a meter.

Only other thing that comes to mind is to order more filters from the company, found here.

I got an idea. :)

Buy this Avia II and use the filters that come with it ... with the Avia II.
Return the DVE before you get late charges. ;)

Amazon has it for $35 which is like $247 Canadian. :p
