Cables for Musical Fidelity A5?

I'm awaiting the arrival of my Musical Fidelity A5 integrated. Any recommendations for interconnects and power cord? My source is an Apple TV with a Cambridge Audio DAC Magic. My speakers are Phase Technology PC 9.1's. Also, The remote does not have a power on/off button. Is there a code available to program a universal remote control?

from the product description, the power input connector is a standard IEC C14 connector, therefore any standard "computer power cord" will work. Take all the sale hype and mystical psudo science out of the equation, the power cord does not need to be one bit "better" than the Romex running in your walls. The rest of the audio input cables can be standard audio cables with male RCA connectors on each end.....the typical "red/white" audio cables. An excellent source is Monoprice, and an example of the many they have is http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021803&p_id=2864&seq=1&format=2

The factory power cord will be included. I was just wondering if there was better option.
All power cables will sound the same as well. Its all copper wire. Some are in fancy packing around them(snake oil) and some ain't.The factory cable will be just fine.Have a little faith my friend, in your product:):D

My recommendation? Well it depends on how much you are willing to spend to satisfy your curiosity.

Blue Jeans Cable and Signal Cable both offer 30 day money back guarantee's. You are out shipping however. Fortunately cables compared to power amps are light and compact.

There are other companies like Audio Quest and Kimber Kable but unfortunately they do not have enough faith in their product to permit you a no obligation trial period. Ray Kimber doesn't even have a returns section on his website that I can find.

I have never had it explained to my satisfaction how power can travel from the generating station at 14,000 volts get stepped down to 110-120 volts, travel through a 30-60 foot length of splice to your house then through a service panel, through a breaker, through another 30 foot of cheap romex in the wall through another outlet to be magically transformed all by a $200 power cable.

Seriously, I have no life.

If I have to worry and wonder about a component's power cord, I would question the designer's competence and find a better component;):D

I am self-admittedly new around here and to the audio realm, but I am stunned by this thought process:eek: Maybe I am too trusting or naive (or maybe I just haven't been screwed by defective products/companies), but it would never even occur to me that the power cord that came in the box with my random product would be inferior. Not to mention the belief that I would also then need to buy a separate specialty power cord from an altogether different company and spend more on it (or even half the price) than that of the product itself.

This blows my mind. I must have somehow avoided some truly great (brainwashing) marketing campaigns for these power cords.

From what I can tell, here is how they make high end power cords:

1. Buy some thick cable.

2. Wrap it with Tech Flex (this is basically required, link: http://www.techflex.com/ )

3. Terminate it with something flashy.

4. Wrap the ends with heat shrink. If you skipped step 3, then just buy some 4:1 heat shrink and cover the regular looking power cord end to make it look jazzy.

5. Screen print name.

Examples:

Notice the regular end they just covered with heat shrink...

Here is one where they bought THREE cables, then had their 8 year old braid it! But they bought a lighted end so you can drop the voltage a bit before it gets to your equipment.

...these are all just from the first page of a Google image search. :D
