Cables for Emotiva XPA-5

My experience with Monoprice Premium Coxial cables: I actually had some that did NOT work!!!

That was the FIRST time I've ever experienced cables not working!

That was why I stuck with Blue Jeans Cable.

If you buy monoprice, I would suggest NOT buying the "Premium" ones and just buy the cheaper basic coxial cables. Sounds weird, but the "Premium" ones can unscrew and that could lead to wires breaking internally or something.

Yeah, just go with component video cables. It'll work just fine. That what I did on my first 3-channel amp.
I did this as well. You can get really high quality interconnects right now using component vid cables- they are selling very cheaply on the used market, as well as new, as hdmi pushes them out of contention. I bought two pair for under $50 and turned them into a sacd 5.1 bundle. They replaced a bundle that I'd paid $250 for.
Used cables are really a good deal, imho.

I am a bit surprised that the Emotiva UMC-1 does not have balanced XLR out. All their amplifiers have XLR inputs, including their stereo preamp. With the usual short distances between components on a rack, should it really be a concern?

No its not a concern, and depending on the gear, a lot are not "fully balanced" anyway:)

Yeah, looks like the only Emo Amp that is FULLY BALANCED is their flagship XPA-1 500W monoblock.

They had to leave something out so that people would want to upgrade to the XMC-1. ;)

The question is, will the XMC-1 be FULLY Balanced from Input-to-Output, or just at the Input stage and be converted to Unbalanced internally?

Ordinary cheap cable is applicable into it. If you handle it well, it will last long.

Yeah, but if you have a nice shiny new amp, you might not feel too good knowing that you hooked up some really ugly cheap cables to it.:D

BJC is a great compromise because you know the quality is outstanding, but it doesn't cost like Monster, Audioquest, or Kimber, etc.

You can always buy sleeving by the foot, including insulation and a heat gun is about $40. I've sleeved a lot of my computer cables internally to make it look sharp, and improve air flow. It doesn't take much to make a "stock" cable look like a $500/ft cable. It's a great way to learn about cabling too.

I went on the Emotiva website forgetting that they sell cable. Well, to be safe since I bought the Amp from them,(thinking they wouldn't send junk cable to plug into it), I bought 5 of their RCA cables, the 5.99 each ones. Works great.

I went with Bluejeans for my XPA-3 since I needed longer cables that what I have to reach it. Great stuff. I checked out the Emotiva cables when they came out and they seem like a good deal too, but the X-series ICs are out of stock.

I just used regular analog cables from monoprice, they work great.

Yeah, Vincent the tech said with only needing 3' I wouldn't need heavier cable.

They all probably work well. I guess since I bought the amp from them, and the price was reasonable, I just ordered theirs.
