Buying used receiver - any tips?

What should I look out for besides the obvious scratches, signs of removed screws/covers, boxes, manuals etc.?

Apparently the unit has some warranty left, but it's been up for sale for about a month at what I consider a relatively good price so I'm wondering if something's not wrong with it?

Thanks!

How to shop for a used receiver:

1) Pick it up a shake it a bit, if something rattles or falls off, don't buy it
2) Put your nose to the vents and take a whiff, smell smoke, rotting meat, or boiled cabbage, don't buy it
3) Ask the saleman what they think, if they it is as good as BlOSE, don't buy it
4) If it is any color other than black, don't buy it
5) Count the number of thingies sticking out of the back, use the following formula to determine worth:
<25 = trash
26 to 50 = OK
51-65 = Good
>66 = Rad, yo!
6) Check the volume dial, if it goes to 11, buy it, buy it NOW!!!

Hope this helps.
