If you follow my link, it's discussed a bit what you get. Yes there are build quality differences etc, but the argument is that there isn't an audible difference.

I did read your link.. So even if you had a ton of money,what sense does it make to spend 20k on an amp.. I would never spend that kind of money on an amp.. I spend it somewhere else.. 2014 Corvette perhaps..

In most cases, it would be a waste of money. However, some amplifiers are capable of more power than others, and are more capable of dealing with lower impedances than others, and some of the speakers requiring such things may be very good. For an example:

My amplifier, though expensive, retails for less than $3k, and it is more than enough for these speakers. For the vast majority of people, spending $3k or more on an amplifier is just plain crazy and stupid. The simple fact is, most people do not spend their money wisely, and so it is with audio gear. If people wanted the best possible sound for their money, and if they had good sense, more people would be spending more money on their speakers, and less on their electronics, than they currently do. But it is easy to see that more watts are better, and more features are better, than it is to see that a speaker sounds better than another speaker. So people do the easy to see thing rather than what will give them the best sound.

I think the easiest way to explain the amp deal is this.. You spend 50K on speakers,you have 10K in separates. You have $1500 in surge protectors.. Your not buying speaker cable from monoprice.. Your buying Kimber cable,end of story.. Your not going to put an Emotiva with 15k B&W Diamonds,your gonna buy Mcintosh mono amps for each speaker.. That is how it is.. Not sound,but matching your equipment up money wise.. Do you think a guy with equipment like that is going to hit home depot for a spool of 16 ga wire for his speakers.. lmao of course not! Guys spending 2k on speakers are not spending 5k on an amp.. End of story!

I dont want to make a mistake and under power these or spend unnecessary. What more to look at other then wattage? I like Rock, southern rock and country music if that helps. I also like them loud and have no neighbors

Older post I know, but thought I'd chime in. I just bought a 7 speaker set of PSB's, the same image line, albeit with the T5's ... In answer to a previous question, they won't be updating the image line for years, the image line IS the new line, it's only been out for a couple of years, and when PSB update speakers they use " trickle down " technology. This means they engineer their top of the line speaker series at the NRC in Canada, then when finally done that set, begin engineering the next line down until that's done.. and so on. Each set of speakers benefits from the model above it's engineering, so the Image series being the 3rd down the list behind Synchrony and Imagine, your looking at years man.
In any case, I've got a Denon 1913 powering these, and for the most part it's ok, but it does get VERY hot trying to power them with only 90 watts per channel. I actually spoke to a Denon Rep about it and he recommended I get a more powerful Denon ( of course ) to properly drive the speakers. So in any case, I'd look personally for an AVR with 120+ watts per channel, and will be replacing my 1913 with a more powerful one in a couple of months.. ( it's fine for now, I'd just rather have a bit more power / less heat )
