Yamaha RX-V561, it can process audio from HDMI sources. This is more important when/if you get into Blu-ray since the HD audio codecs can be utilized easiest with HDMI receivers with the repeating feature. The Pioneer cannot do this. I would comparison shop the RX-V561 and RX-V661 as the RX-V661 offers a few more features and may be found for around the same price as the RX-V561.
I am assuming you live in Canada?
Hi Seth ,
I just recently purchased the Yamaha RX-V561 , automatically thinking that the receiver processes audio through hdmi . In my manual it states that it does not process audio through hdmi . I hope it is an error in the manual lol ! . It says that it processes video only .
I do not have any components that has hdmi , so I can't test if what your saying about the receiver processing audio through hdmi or not .
I am going to buy a plasma tv and a PS3 very soon . I want to use the ps3 for the purpose of the blueray . If this receiver can not process audio through hdmi , then I will return it .
Do you have any personal experience with the Yamaha RX-V561 in regards to the sound through hdmi ? .
Thanks !
