buying new stereo speakers

Your AVR25II may not drive the M80's like you may want. I've seen many excellent suggestions on getting an external amp, however, here's another suggestion that is simpler than adding external power. Harman is discontinuing their higher end receivers and there are 2 you can get that would power the M80's quite well, and keep the system simple. The AVR645 and AVR745 are on sale from J&R Music World for 599.95 and 999.95 respectively. Both have very robust amplifier sections (The 745 more so). Just a thought.
I checked the prices on the HK site for buying directly from HK. The 599.95 and 999.95 are also advertised on the HK site as "remanufactured" products. Would any of you be comfortable buying a remanufactured product?

I'm pondering Alexsound's suggestion of just upgrading the receiver.
What are your thoughts?

As long as they have a warranty

The ones being advertised on J&R are not refurbished units, at least they don't say they are. J&R is pretty reputable and when they have sold
"remanufactured" product, they state it in the description. I would give them a call first.

I spoke with the HK folks and they say that even with the AVR645 I'm still getting 75W RMS, intimating that buying the AVR wouldn't really solve my power demand for the 400W RMS Axiom M80s. So I think I'm going to just buy an external amp for now; perhaps upgrade to a more up-do-date HK receiver later on (after I've worked a few extra shifts).

BTW, anyone know where I can buy a used rack (open to air for better cooling)? I need one to support my AVR25II, new ext amp., CD-changer and Technics turntable.

Many thanks again,
