They list it on their site at $1199, but I emailed them and they said they would sell it for $945 and they are an authorized dealer
A lot of times, retailers are strongly urged by manufactures to list only the MSRP or are "told" that the lowest they can advertise a product for.

Calling the dealer and asking for a lower price will often get you a lower price!

AVR3805 on sale at Good guys

Adevertised sale price $1099 +tax

I got mine for $999 +tax. Had to negotiate a bit. The sales manager threw in the setup mic(DM305) for free(on reciept it was $945 for reciever + $55 for mic). Overall a good deal.

What if you buy a Denon from an individual? I am guessing that the warranty will not carry over?

Buy Denon from an unauthorized dealer?

I wouldn't buy anything Denon from an unauthorized dealer. Their quality control problems are legendary. Their receivers may sound good, but they break all the time. And their customer service is no better.

So, you're saying that Denon manufactures a poor product and then doesn't back it up?

What a complete load of crap!! Mr Anonymous poster, do you have any documentation at all to back up that claim?

We're all waiting to see it.

Like most lies, there's a fragment of truth in that statement. Some of their products are manufactured in Japan while some are made in other Asian countries. There are a few models over the years that have had some Q/C problems, but it's hardly epidemic. I've owned & used a lot of Denon gear over the years with very few problems. I did once have a piece break (not even its fault) and the service was very fast & thorough.

I would recommend, though, that any expensive item be purchased from an authorized dealer or at least one with a very good rep for providing their own service. Gear of any brand can fail, as anything man made. In the event of a problem, it's a good feeling to know you're covered.

Mr. anonymous poster

I had a 3802 which broke after 3 months of use, and then again after being repaired by Denon in Calif., after another 3 months. You can have Denon.

Ever heard of a Lemon? Sorry, but there is NO company that exists that can turn out a perfect product especially when mass producing comes into play.

I have one last question on this issue. Has anyone on the site dealt with Dakmart? They are an authorized e-tailer that sells refurbs and they have a year warranty with each one. Most electronics, if they are going to fail, fail early on in their lifespan so I think a year is a good warranty. So I'm not worried about buying a refurb especially from and authorized dealer. However, has anyone had any bad experiences with Dakmart, and good ones?

Take a look at Macmall.com Look in the coming soon section; tons of refurbished Denon products. See if you can find refuribished Yamaha anywhere

Refurbished items aren't only items that are being returned because they are broken. Let's say someone takes one back because they couldn't afford it. If the box is open the dealer has to return the item back to Denon and the item can't be sold as new and has to be sold as refurbished. It is the law and any company has to abide by it. Any electronic piece of equipment has to be sold as refurbished if the box has been opened even if the item was never used or removed from the plastic.

So when you buy a refurbished product it may, in fact be brand new.

Also, for the record, I feel that Denon receivers sound MUCH better than Yamaha. Just MHO.

I haven't had any experience with Dakmart, but I have read somewhere of several people having problems with them. Seems like they had long delays getting their receivers shipped and lack of response to e-mails/phone calls. I think it was on one of the other forums. AVS maybe?

Hmm, they have been pretty responsive on e-mails. I ordered the 1804 today and they said it would ship today. I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed.
