Buy now or wait: AV123 MFW15 vs. the world?

I've been putting off upgrading my subwoofer practically forever. Considering what you can get for your $ I'm thinking I might be OK with just a single AV123 MFW15 shipped for a little over 700$. The only regret that I would have would be if I missed out on "the sub of the year" if I ordered now vs. June.

I guess what I'm asking is should I hold out a couple of months and see if Hsu or SVS [or some other ID bang-for-your-buck-sub-company] come out with something unbelievable or should I just get off the pot an make an order sooner rather than later.

It's unlikely that SVS or HSU will ever offer anything that looks as pretty as the MFW-15.

I was considering just that. The thing is [if I co-locate them at least] they won't sound "better" .. they will just have more room to go loud before distortion kicks in ... right??

I don't listen to things loud at all so I'm thinking that my <2400ft room would be OK with one .... Of course if I'm wrong just let me know.

Why not start with one and see if it does what you need it to? If you needed a second, AV123 is pretty accommodating and would more than likely give you a deal on a second one like the discounted 2 pricing.

I don't know about a secret svs product, but HSU does supposedly have a new subwoofer coming out before long.

I don't know much more than you. All that I know is that I heard a report that there was one coming out, I Emailed HSU, got a response back saying that there will be something hopefully within the next few months. As much as I begged though they were tightlipped about specs / price / exact timelines / what models it may be competitive with / etc. ....

actually, I was talking about the super secret SVS.

but the HSU details:
flat to 10hz (so they say)
not that bigger than a 3.3 or HO?
they brought it to a public place but refused to show to it to anyone

When do you anticpate receiving your subs? I ordered two palisander rosa ones but I think I am going to cancel the order and wait to see more reports or maybe order a PB13. There is an av123 post that talks of loose screws and bottoming out and its got me thoroughly depressed.

I think the only "bottoming out" report I've seen was by someone with a LMC-1 preamp that had the sub channel set about 16dB too hot (accidentally).

The bottoming out was due to his having it set way too hot, still I am wondering if I might be happier with the much more expensive but beefier PB13, although if you look at the craigsub review the PB13 didn't beat the mfw15 but a point or two...

heck I don't know which to buy and actually not having a place to listen to either sub is not helping...

Yea I saw that to on the craigsub reveiw. I will probably stick with the MFW-15 unless I hear something really negitive.

I'd love to see them come out with something cool. Do you think that they're likely to come out with a decent model that isn't too expensive [in SVS PB13 Ultra terms] that is very tight, musical, and has enough output oomph??
