I've been looking at amps for a while & have considered many.I'll probably end up spending more than I want to,but I'm trying to exercise some restraint.I've looked at the Outlaw M200's @ $574(a pair delivered) but have a question.Their site says they are "class A/B/*".Up to 80 watts they are class A/B,then they switch to class *.I'm guessing at that point they turn into a high voltage amp which I've heard gives a cheap, bright sound. Can anyone clarify this? Outlaw says they have 20kuf caps in them which is probably close to what my yammy 3300 has in it altogether.
My ultimate goal is to get 5 channels amped, although I'll start with 2.I've considered the Odyssey Stratos(150X2,$1100),which has impressive specs & has gotten rave reviews.I can also get a B&K ref 200.5 for $2200 with some interest free financing.I've also seen a levinson 100X2 for bid on Ebay, where I've been pricing quite a bit of stuff.
I'll be using the yammy as a pre. I've never done this before so I'd like some comments & advice from some of you that have.Perhaps you can tell me what I'm in store for when I make this jump as well.If I would be better off starting with a more expensive 2ch amp I'll certainly consider it.Would a B&K 125.2 be much better than the 130wpc(?) from the yammy?
Thanks to all in advance.
