Doesn't need to be a new bowling alley, lanes can be swapped in and out. Any alley that can afford to would switch to synthetic in a heartbeat unless they're going for a retro feel. I'm used to be in NY and my area didn't have any new alley's either, but they've all switched to synthetic including our own.

That's old school and a royal pain in the rear. Aside from dodging balls (calm down Adam) setting up pins and clearing off the deck after every first shot is just stupid tedious. I wish we had room to store a couple of our old lanes when they got removed because they would've made one sweet table or something else.

Yea, you definitely don't live near me. You might be able to spend $200 on bowling (well only bowling, no drinks or food) if you had about 10 people and bowled 7 games each.

I don't know where you are located fuzz but we don't have any new bowling alleys around here, lol.. I only know they make the floor that way because I bought a house that had 3 lanes in it, it had a small room behind the lanes where the servants would wait for the balls to be dropped into the troth and one would return the ball while the other put the pins back up... I partnered in that property and we sold them 3 lanes for a good amount, we also sold the tile floors out of that house to a contractor in new jersey for $300 a square foot and he removed it {it was only a 3 small bathrooms and a pantry, someone ripped the kitchen floor up years before}..

anyway we went bowling the other day and it cost me like $200 for me my sons and 2 of their friends...

not sure if the website NUTMEG BOWL OF FAIRFIELD has price but it was pretty expensive for a couple hours of bowling with 4 kids and a few bottles of water and juices... but I found these reviews when just searching for their website Nutmeg Bowl - Fairfield, CT | Yelp so I guess they are expensive...

not sure if the website NUTMEG BOWL OF FAIRFIELD has price but it was pretty expensive for a couple hours of bowling with 4 kids and a few bottles of water and juices... but I found these reviews when just searching for their website Nutmeg Bowl - Fairfield, CT | Yelp so I guess they are expensive...

56 lanes, yikes. That's a big house and not one I'd relish doing the lanes at every day.

yah, its big in there, plus a restaurant -ish area, lounge, ect.... some video games... But like I said $200, I would rather give the kids $50 a piece and take them out on the boat fishing and swimming.... But it was raining...

Thanks guys. Was on vacation at the Oregon coast last week. It was planned 9 months earlier and crashed right in the thick of this business. But it was needed as we had a house right on the beach. So it was nice to relax and reduce stress levels.

4 days left at the old job. Then I can focus on the new one. Tough because orders are already coming in so I am working two jobs right now. Makes for very long nights!

We went there a few years ago to visit a few AH members in Lincoln City. Loved it, it's a different word out there.
Hope you got a chance to go to Newport and the great restaurants there, and how about the Rogue Brewery?

Nope. We were north of Tillamook in Rockaway Beach. We went into Tillamook and toured the cheese factory. Plus had their ice cream of course! That is some mighty tasty stuff and doesn't contain a bunch of chemicals.

Truth is we spent most of our time on the beach just relaxing while the kids tried to dig to China. Tide would come in overnight and they would start all over again. We rented the house with a high school buddy and his family. The kids all get along so it worked out well. Weather was awesome with most days sunny and in the 70's. One day it did rain so we stayed inside and played games. The adults did go out and fly kites during one round of rain. We got soaked, but the wind was strong so we got dragged along the beach. My buddy is about 70 lbs lighter than me. He got dragged about 50 feet down the beach and I only got moved about 5 feet. But his kite was more powerful.

We had sun, sand, and poking dead things with a stick. Does it get any better? I think not.

WE go to oregon to visit friends and family every couple years {mount hood and portland area}, we have done that tour a few times, I don't think I could work with all them people on the cat walk watching me... They are set up like scientists making that cheese... The ice cream is very good..

Some of the nicest people we've ever met lived in Oregon.
The cliffs along the coast were graffiti free and no litter.

Well, it has been an experience so far. Long hours as I work to get things set up. So many little details that are just time killers! Finally was able to invoice customers last week. Working on some new business. It's slow, but that is good so I can get the office part set up right before I get slammed.

On another note, how many friggin' tax ID numbers does a business need? Geez! That is insane how complex it is to run your own business to just get the tax thing straight.

Congratulations on stepping into the foray of business ownership!! Choosing yourself is a big step and highly rewarding.

Some things to to think about:
What is your key differentiation from your competition?
How are you marketing that differentiation to you current and future clients?
What future investments can you make to expand upon your business differentiation?

Make sure you continue to ask yourself these things and plan your vision of where you want to be 5 years out 10 years out, 25 years out. Then start road mapping and mile marking what it takes to get there to start crafting your plans.
