I recently picked up a Polk CS2 center speaker and a pair of Polk Monitor 70s for the fronts. I plan on buying a pair of M40/M50s for rears and a sub in the future, but for now I would like to focus on getting a receiver.

As of now I only plan to have a 5.1 system but it would be nice to have the option of 7.2. I'm not really sure what to look for when shopping for a receiver, this is my first time dealing with any audio tech. Some features I would like include being able to connect it to my desktop computer so I could use my speakers for my desktop audio and HDMI 1.4 for possible 3D in the future.

I would like to keep my budget around ~$400. But I can allocate more of my funds to the receiver if it would mean a significant increase in quality.

Thank's I'll definitely look into that receiver. What do you think about the YAMAHA HTR-5063? It's currently on sale at Newegg for $220. It's under my budget but seems to have all the features I need. It also seems like a really good deal.

Both have the same wattage and the HTR-5063 actually has less THD at 0.06%. It has less output/inputs but I really don't need that many, I'd only hook up a TV, computer, and a dvd/blu-ray player. But then again I don't know much about receivers...

The HTR-5063 comes out to $300 after taxes and 2yr extended warranty. Good deal..?

I wouldn't recommend that piece.

Looks good to me. 80 dollar warranty for a 220 dollar receiver is too high.

So at about the $400 range I should pick up the Onkyo TX-SR608 and if I want to move up to ~$500 I should get the Yamaha RX-V667?

Have you thought about looking for used? I've seen Yamaha RX-1900's for as little as $450 that cost $1,500 just two years ago. Full HDMI (not 1.4, but 1.3).
