I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff I am totally new an I'm curious on building my own portable Bluetooth speaker? I was thinking of building a box with a 12V battery 7ah? With 6x9s an then 5 1/4 speakers with a stereo unit that has Bluetooth my question is how do I add on an off switch an on? An 2nd I'm gonna add in a amplifier which is a board amplifier would I need a two channel amplifier to power the speakers an stereo or a four channel?

This is more appropriate in the DIY section of the forum. Also, there are some decent portable boombox kits on Parts Express that include everything you need, for likely much less than you can dream up on your own and they even come with the cabinet parts.

Other things you need to know is, size box needed for chosen speakers to perform adequately which takes some knowledge, software, and rather complete specs just for starters.

I started to build one with some car speakers and a head unit I never installed in a car I no longer have. I ended up just using a good pair of small bookshelf speakers and a 2.1 capable bluetooth amplifier along with a small subwoofer. All of this fits in a modest cardboard box I can fit pretty much anywhere in my light pickup, along with a couple of small folding tables for speaker stands in case I need them.

On-board amplifier?

Use a ClassD car amplifier- many can handle a 2 Ohm load but I would recommend a larger battery, just because it will handle higher demand.

Some additional questions-
- How long would it be used in one event?
- How loudly does it need to play? Coverage distance is directly tied to this.
- What is your budget? Anything is possible, if enough money is available, but for lower budgets, more creativity is needed.
- How much should this weigh and how portable does it need to be?

This stuff is really complex, either find a product that has what you want or try a parts express kit.
