I will take them Yamaha speakers over Polk - however >>>

Since you have stated that you are more about music, then
these would be my 2 options.

Philharmonic Audio AA (Pioneer modded) - made for music >
and not really a wimp with movies.
http://philharmonicaudio.com/aa.html

Boston M250 tower speakers - good closeout pricing - sold each
And that tweeter is nice, and they are not a wimp!

I would look at the HSU VTF-2 sub

Or, Reaction Audio B-stock

You have some interesting options in the thread - your call

went ahead and ordered rx 2010 and 2 ns 777. will get the yamaha center too.
is the NXG Technology NX-BAS-500 the best option for a sub for < 300 ?

for new subs - NXG sub is probably better choice. If you could scour and find local used SVS or HSU that would be nice deal. I consider used good deal at 1/2 off msrp

Not a bad choice - on receiver and speakers

On the sub, try it - if you do not like it, then send it back.

Very Lovely minimalist/Eames era style mixed, but I can't help to wonder - why the heck you even bothered to ask for speakers advise here? Pretty much everyone one told to get different speakers.
Also can't help to notice you probably spend 4-5 times on the design/furniture more than this audio system. and Btw: IMHO nicely wood laminate finished bookshelves on stands would've looked better than these big ugly black towers.

Glad you like it :)

well i started here with no clue about receivers and speakers and set ups. you guys did help me get started in the right direction and it was really helpful to pick my individual pieces. Love my NXG sub which you suggested and even with Yamaha receiver and speakers i think i was interested in them after you mentioned a Yamaha receiver and that's where i started to finalize my pieces.

Very nice! I too love the minimalist decor.
That wall begs a 120" front projection setup :D.
Thanks agarwalro. that will be my next project after i save up some good dough... the Tv is plasma though which i absolutely love.. doesnt match up to the Panasonic plasma i had earlier but its pretty good.. !! hopefully OLEDs become affordable in a few years too and would be another option..
