What components are you shopping for? Speakers? Receiver? Blu-Ray Player? TV? Are you in the United States? What city / state?

It's going to be difficult finding an appropriate subwoofer for such a large space within your budget. Would you consider used? Refurbished? DIY?

the living room has a middle wall that almost partitions the living space from the dining so about 15*25.
I have a nice 60: plasma. I am In Fremont , California USA.

I was looking to buy a speakers and an A/V receiver. so about 1500$ for receiver and speakers.

the yamaha 720 lists 8ohms
90W per channel (8 ohms, 20 Hz-20 kHz, 0.09% THD, 2ch driven)
105W per channel (8 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.9% THD, 2ch driven)
and the pioneer speakers mention an impedance of 6 ohms. would that be an issue? has anyone set them together?

just came back from frys to try some of these speakers. they didnt have the pioneers in question but i tried some of the polks and they sounded quite nice.

I tested the Polk RTi8 and RTi4 and CSI4 and kinda liked them.

found a decent deal on polks-ebay to get 2 of those towers and 2 bookshelf with a csi4 center all cherry finish for about 740 $ delivered.
adding the NX-BAS-500 and the yamaha 730 would almost take me close 1300$ but am still considering because it sounded good and also has a nice cherry finish..

any thoughts ?

I would not choose those Polks over the Pioneers. If you want good Polk you need to find the older models and those are expensive. That is a great deal for that package. If you buy the towers alone they go for $360. Don't miss out they are great for the price I tell ya. Look at the pros reviews.

towers go for 360? are you referring to the pioneer speaker package or the polk rti8?

Forget about Polk. Hsu will provide better movie dynamics and hsu vft3hp sub will deliver outstanding bass.
Modified pioneer speakers are nice, but for 80% or so movies hsu would be better choices. I have heard both hsu subs and their bookshelves

They would not be my preference/choice, if doing a lot of music listening.

Now If you do like them - then that is what counts. It is about what floats your boat.

thanks for the suggestions guys...

i feel my living space will have issues running the wires for rear speaker s so am thinking i should go with just good 2 front speakers a center and a sub. now i listen to a lot of music more than movies so i think this might benefit with 2 .1 with a Sub option.

with this setup, what would be a good configuration to go for . if i wanted to stay in 1 to 1.5k range to get a AVR and the 2.1 plus sub speakers.

how does this sound for a set up
2 * YAMAHA NS-777 3-Way 8" Bass Reflex Tower Speaker
1 center Yamaha NS-C444
Sub - NXG Technology NX-BAS-500
with
YAMAHA RX-A2010 9.2 Network AVENTAGE AV Receiver

overall around 1500. does this look good for the money ?
