Budget dictates 2-channel for now, please advise

Hi all,

I'm putting together a new system and due to my low budget and the state of flux that the video and surround sound industry seems to be in, I'm going to stick with two channel audio only for now.

My main source will be my PC on which are stored many lossless audio files.

I've been all over today, researching the practicality of scrapping a pre-amp all together and feeding the signal directly from PC to power amp, investigating various integrated amps and receivers, etc...

A radio tuner is really not important to me.

Anyway, I'm starting to think a receiver offers the most flexibility, even if it has features I don't need.

With that in mind, would you go with a two channel unit like the HK3480, which has virtually no expandability, or, in the same price class, something like the Panasonic SA-WR70S?

I just want strong, clean sound to power some Ascend mains and, if money allows, a sub (self-powered).

Thanks in advance,

Evan

If I had to go strictly 2ch this would be my choice:

However Yamaha, Onkyo, Denon, and HK have some pretty decent lowend HT recievers that will give you pretty good 2ch performance and still leave you the flexability to move into HT when your budget allows.

I am not sure I follow here what you are driving at?
Audio has been in a state of flux from day one, advancemets. Some periods are shorter than others.
