In the thread titled "subs

" You asked about how the athena asp4000 and 6000 would stack up against the new energy subwoofers.
Well, I had a chance to listen to them today, and all I can say is WOW. Tons of output. I didn't get a chance to screw around with all the settings, and this may be why I though they sounded a little on the boomy side, but the 10inch, was 349 CAD, and it was killing all the other subwoofers in the demo room as FS. Better then jbl and infinity 12inch subs, and the athena's volume was at 3 out of 10. The 12inch was even better. Played louder and lower, which by the way, they seem to really dig deep, but I had no test material. They use a weird box design. One down firing port, and one front firing port. The website says its to help reduce port chuffle, which when I listened, was not a problem at all, even when I was pushing it there was no air fluffing. The 12inch was 500 CAD, also on sale (50bucks off).
In conclusion, they are great subwoofers. They seem a little "looser" then the energy's, but they are half the price, and I can live with that. Now I'm considering the 12inch athena. This sturggle will never end.
