Duh? Hello?

It's because the Bryston amps sound better with the B&W 802D speakers.:D:p
You know the truth but you just don't want to admit the fact that B&W knows how to make affordable speakers such as the 802D that will tell the musical truth and all they need is an affordable Bryston 14B. I wonder if you would have thought so highly of your beloved Linkwitz and Salon if they were selling for the price of the 362.:D

What are we talking about again --- Dracula?

Oh, no, wait..........

I'm going to sue the B&W dealer for letting me audition the 800D/802D with only 300WPC/8ohm Classe amps, which are not enough power for the B&Ws --- those bastards!:D

Had the dealer used the Bryston amps, I would have bought the B&W 800D, instead of the Linkwitz Orion, Revel Salon2, or KEF 201/2.:D

You know the B&W dealer offered to sell me those 800Ds for only $15,000?:D

I think that turned me off.

I went to the Revel dealer, and he refused to even give me a discount
on the Salon2. Full $22,000.

Think I'm buying some cheaply discounted B&W speakers? Please!:D

Don't always believe those HTM reviews but don't ignore the fact that the 5X300W Classe they tested routinely tripped the protective circuit at 190W even in 2 channels into 4 ohms. So no, if they did their test correctly I wouldn't use Classe, not the one HTM tested anyway to drive the 802D.

By the way, the KEF ref series do sound like B&M, unlike the Salon 2.. I think we should get back on topic now before being told to, or may be too late already.:D

I think as long as we include the words "Bryston" and/or "Anthem" somewhere in the post, we're okay.:D

Off topic: I was wondering if there had ever been a review of a B&W speaker where the reviewer like Soundstage, Stereophile, HTM, S&V absolute raved about the measurements and claimed that they were the best speakers they have ever heard? I can't recall a single instance.

On topic: I wonder why some amps like the quite expensive Classe amp would trip the protection circuit, but the Bryston & Anthem do not?

I think I know the reason but I would like to write to them about it and see what they would tell me. It really matters not in real world listening. If I could afford those B&W I would pick up a couple of Classe to safeguard against blowing those expensive and apparently not hard to blow diamond tweeters. Just to follow you rule I should mention the word Bryston now so I would say a cheaper alternative for the 802D would be the Bryston 14B SST2 or better still a couple of 28B SST2.

If you are talking about better SQ and are spending $4K on an amp for $2K (at best) worth of speaker....

Sell your LSi 15's while you still can get $900 for them. Add that to the $4200 you are looking at spending on an amp. Take the resultant $5100 and get $4500 worth of speaker and $600 worth of amp.

I will bet you the cost that it will destroy LSi 15's + Anthem / Bryston.
No way.

He should buy two Mark Levinson class D Monoblock amps to add to his Polks and call it a day. And HT2-TLs? What kinda forum ya think this is, suggesting that speakers make the difference in sound!?!?!?!

So diamond tweeters are easier to blow than Beryllium tweeters and you don't want an amp that can produce in excess of 200Watts just to be safe?:D

I think TLS Guy recommends 400WPC/8ohms amps for those B&W 800s.

If I owned $25K speakers, I might get those Bryston amps.:D

If I owned $100K speakers, I would like to own Mark Levinson amps.

I think if I owned $10K speakers, I would get those Anthem amps.:D

If I owned $3K speakers, I would probably get Emotiva amps.

If I owned 100k speakers I would sell them and buy an Aston Martin ;)
