I recently discovered audiogon which has been ok for selling stuff but amazing for discovering and reading about crazy products, things that realign electrons on the fly for example:

Completely ignorant, stupid, and trying to steal your money? Absolutely!!!

If this charlatan told me this to my face while trying to get my hard earned $ out of my pocket, he would learn what it's like to get back-handed!

Electrons have a "spin" associated with them, but it typically isn't considered a spin in the traditional sense of the word. It is part of the quantum state of the electron, and it is most certainly NOT "every which way" (that would imply a continuum, yet when we speak of spin we are in the quantum domain):

Yes, electronic spin can be manipulated to get them all lined up. But, this requires very intense magnetic fields, on the order of NMR (aka MRI)!!! What this means is that there is absolutely no way that this guy has a device to get all the electron spins aligned. If he did, then the incredible magnetic fields that the device generates would kill ALL of your other electronic devices.

Another point, electronic spin is NOT a source of noise!!! Go read the scientific definition of noise and you won't see 1 word about electron spin.

That's the thing, they try to use quantum principles mixed in with classic principles.

Yup, they know just enough to sound like they know what they are talking about, enough to BS the average person that knows nothing in this field.

Guaranteed, these guys know NOTHING about quantum physics, and very little true knowledge about electronics. A real scientist seeks the truth through experimentation and data.

These guys use smoke and mirrors to seek the $ of fools.

They are trying to use mumbo jumbo to marry classic physics (EM) to quantum physics (wave theory). If/When that ever really does happen, we are talking about the next frontier of human knowledge. I promise you that this advancement won't be coming from a cable/wire salesman.

Probably doesn't help that every scientific documentary I see has shown electrons spinning like a top! A la, Rutherford's model style.

What happened to showing it as a wave function/ electron cloud? Some recent BBC Horizon documentaries I caught on YouTube have been doing a much better job.

Here is a very good and very technical/deep read on spin.

Unless you have previously studied quantum chemistry, you will be completely lost and overwhelmed on this. Quite easy to see how a person that has a modest knowledge on physics could easily confuse and trick the average layman.

Personally, I had 2 classes, Quantum Chemistry and Statistical Mechanics, at one of the best chemistry schools in the USA, and the corresponding lab components that went with the classes.

Actually even in a powerful MRI which is 1.5 to 3 Tesla or 15,000 to 30,000 Gauss (earth's magnetic field is about 0.5 Gauss give or take) only a very small percentage actually become aligned to the field. Less than one percent I believe. But it is enough that when the magnetic field is turned off they emit a detectable radio signal to make the image as they relax into randomness. Try putting your stereo in a magnet that powerful and see what happens:

When I was in school, we used NMR to determine concentrations of MTBE is commercial gasoline samples.

That was basically a case of "empty your pockets at the door". Samples and lab notebooks were the only items allowed in the area.
