Good luck on your quest and keep us informed.
I agree with the above post about monoprice. That is the place to buy all your wires, cables, and connectors. Cheap prices, good product, and excellent customer service. Don't buy the hype about expensive wires, it's bull.....Listen to ninja cat, he is wise beyond his fur.:D

Hi Griffinconst, will do!

Yesterday I went shopping for real audio equipment for the first time. It was a *very* enlightening experience, in many ways. I made a little write-up of my experience here:

I'll be going shopping again next Saturday and will post an update afterwards.

It looks to me like your evaluation process is quite good. I also like that you took the time to listen to the best and most expensive speakers available as a reference against the ones you are considering. Now, the object of the search is to find as many speakers in your range as possible.

Once you've found a number of contenders for final selection, it may be prudent to begin a new thread specifically for discussion on those speakers. You may find that somebody here has a source that has an awesome sale on them or has another product in mind that is equally as good or better, with the qualities that you are looking for.

It looks like you have auditioning figured out. Glen Gould is a good choice as classical is usually well recorded.
