Bowers & Wilkins 684 vs New

Hello everyone,

I just completed my theatre room and I'm in the process of purchasing floor standing speakers and found some used B&W 684 speakers. I really enjoy the sound of B&W but they are an older model and didn't know for the money ($500 for the pair) if a better quality speaker (other than B&W) could be better spent elsewhere. Technology changes so fast - I just want best quality for the money. Any feedback would be great.

If it is the series 1, I think they are pretty nice, especially for the money. I've use them as front L & R that I have paired with an HTM61.

$500 for the two 684's is a decent deal.

My only complaint is the mids can be a little forward, but I've been happy with them. You will need a sub as the low end is alright - just not quite enough, at least within my setup.
