Hello i am new to this forum, just seeking advice apon the B&W 683 s2 loud speakers. For the price are the B&W 683s worth thr price? I want to eventually get the entire set, unless there is another speaker of equivalent for a better price.
I'm a longtime owner of B&W speakers.I recently retired a pair of 804M after 20 yrs of service.

My general feeling of B&W...the flagship 800 series was the beginning and the end for serious music lovers...the 600 and 700 series were good, and even better now, but you can always seem to do a lot better at the price point with another brand ...if you like the B&W "sound" and were in the market to spend $2k, I would look at a pair of 804N on ebay before I would buy the s2.

I haven't seen the other posts, but if no one has mentioned Philharmonic audio...this is probably where I would invest $1500-2000 on a pair of speakers.

Edited to note...now I saw the other posts, so I 4th the Philharmonic audio line!...lol

The 600 S2 Series is a a step up from the S1. The tweeter is smoother and a bit more extended. In fact, the 685 S2's can hold their own very well inmho. Moreover, the 600 S2 Series uses the same exact drivers as the CM S2 Series. Of course, the CM S2 Series have better cabinets/finishes and better quality X-over components. However, the newer 700 Series is a significant jump from the CM S2 Series altogether. But as has already been mentioned, the pricing is ridiculous.

In short, the BMR's own the under $2K market and still punches well above that range. In other words, you would have to spend some serious money to best the BMR's which would be no easy feat. Dennis has mentioned many times that he makes like $6 an hour doing this. We are very lucky to have him here. Just saying.............

Cheers,

Phil

Also im finding that B&W only deals with license dealers, kinda drives the price up a little.

I’m using philharmonic affordable accuracy monitors and center. And these sound amazing reviewers say u have to spend $500 + just to match these so I can only imagine what the $1400 BMRs sounds like. Ppl have said that you have to spend over $3000 to find something that trades blows with them. And after hearing the affordable accuracy line I believe it.
