Couple of guys were driving around the Home Depo parking lot trying this crap where I live. They pulled up to me "we got wireless home theater for sale" I simply responded "I don't like wireless" and they drove off looking for someone else. I should have reported them. Didn't think about it since I was in a hurry...:(
It would have been so easy to say "I'm calling the police"

Very true, I should have, but my mind was on the project I was getting stuff for and was more wondering why these random morons were talking to me. Mouth is faster than brain sometimes.

I have some info on these systems (like what is ACTUALLY INSIDE of the speakers. I also have some clear photos of the vehicle including a very legable license plate # in the photo... Trying to decide if I want to make a "unboxing" video of it, or just snap pics of the products.... Plus I'm currently wrapping presents for kiddos, that takes precedence :)

Cnine, do you recall if the "white van" was actually a blue mini van? Just curious if it's the same guys or another scammer.

Friend of mine (I swear it wasn't me!) bought these in Ocala, FL, but the scammers did say they were from Tampa. My friend was scammed a day or two before Sept 24th, 2017, which was about exactly a month after Hurricane Irma.

Will post photos or video soon. I can't tell if it's chunks of quartz or granite inside the satellite speakers........ Seriously.......

Hello everyone, I’ve not been checking this thread ever since I found out that I was duped, and forsome reason, I was not getting email notifications of any comments that is made. If you asked a question and I never responded sorry, it was not ignored, I just didn’t see it.

During that faithful day, in a bid to convince me more so that I fall for the scam, they suggested I could take a picture of them and their IDs if I did not trust them which I did. So I still have the pictures of one of the guys and his Drivers license. I don’t know if it’s legal to post it here. But The picture is with me. For the car, I did notget any picture of or remember the license plate number, but it was a white van.

@Pogre , Yes I opened about three of them up and there were big blocks of heavy concrete-like stones glues to the inside. The one in the "Subwoofer " was the biggest. Some of the speakers had actual tiny speakers in them which looked very inferior.

Actually in the BOSE rip off satellites, there is only one actual speaker... The other (bottom one) is a completely phony fake speaker with a chunk of granite inside.

I'm new to this board, and admittedly I only joined simply to post the information I have on this scam, so I'm not sure if it's possible for you to send me the pictures of the license through a private message on here, but if it is PM it over to me and I will show my buddy the pic and ask if it was the same guy that took him for some $.

So I was in the house this afternoon when a trusted friend rushed in and said he met some guys in front of my condo with home theaters for sale at an irresistible price. I went out and checked them out. I dont know much about sound systems so I don't even know why I found them cool, maybe because of the price. The name on the box is Langston acoustics.
They had about 4 sets and I bought one. just like that! This evening when when I took it out of the box, it appeared to be a woofer and 5 surrounders.

Now the problem is that
1. There is no power cable included in the box
2. The is no power 'port' or any place on the woofer to even connect to power source. all it has is six small ports which I presume is for the surrounders and an amplifier. it has "OUTPUT" and "INPUT" written close these six ports. It is just like the traditional one you will put a wire in and screw to tighten, normally found at back of a subwoofer.
3. It has no remote, no screen, no controls
4, No ON-OFF button or any control key or whatsoever , Just a giant black box with six ports at the back and a speaker on the side.
It was not smart on my side at all and I dont even know why I did not check everything before taking it from them.
I dont know how to power it on , or connect anything to it.
They told me it is wireless, but I am having it had to believe now.
just like the woofer, all that the small speakers have is just to connection point at the back for wires. nothing more.

I just the internet and I cant find this brand "Langston Acoustics " anywhere , except their website https://www.langstonacoustic.com/. which has absolutely nothing there.
I need help please.
I feel bad that this happened to you. Getting ripped off like that is so depressing -- especially this time of year.

Tell you what, I don't want you to have a sad holiday, so I'll sell you speakers at my cost. You can choose from Triad, NHT, Emotiva, Martin Logan, KEF, Polk and Niles Audio. Shipping is free from Triad and NHT.

Happy Holidays!

Cnine, I sent you a "private conversation" with my email info if you wanted to email over whatever pictures you have.

Or don't send them. :) lol whatever you are comfortable with. I wouldn't blame you for being sketchy about ANYTHING to do with this whole scam... I wish my friend would have called me, or texted me, or sent a damn smoke signal to me before paying these guys anything for this stuff.

My thought is, the more Info we can put out there about this crap, then MAYBE one less person will be victimized by it.

Did you also get the crappy projector and even crappier projector screen with these "speakers"?

I see, jokes on me. very sad I got fooled in such a big way. Thanks though
I was swindled in a similar fashion before. It's the worst. Unfortunately, the only solution is learn and move on. The good news is that it will probably be difficult to "sell" you things from now on. Best of luck with your future endeavors/purchases.
