The fan bugs me too.

Pop-ups occur while surfing porn, just stop doing that and they will stop.

You can stream all your music from your CPU if it is saved in WMP. Just "allowing sharing" and the PS3 will find your computer.

I'm pretty happy with my PS 3. I use it almost every day, as I use it as my BD and SD DVD player. The only thing that bothers me about it is that the fan is kind of loud. No big deal when you're watching an action movie, but when I'm watching a chick flick with the wife, it bugs me a bit.

I find the internet browser pretty clunky. I hate how it always asks you if you, "want to run the plug-in?" I don't even know what this means. I wish there was a way to turn this off? My biggest complaint is that for some reason, I can't access my hotmail account. Seems like some kind of conflict with Microsoft and Sony.

I've never tried streaming with it. I have an HP desktop upstairs that has a lot of music on it. How would I be able to play this music without actually downloading it to the PS 3 hard drive?

If using Windows Media Player 11, you simply allow sharing to other devices on the network. The PS3 will see that computer as available then. Restart the PS3 and you can browse any music files that are available to WMP. I haven't tried other media players, but I know WMP11 works because I have a lot of music on my system in the office.

I get the plug in message with just about EVERY site I go to. that's why it's so annoying. It also doesn't seem to play well with the music site I download from gomusic.ru. A lot of times I have to log in MULTIPLE times to access my account, and then it often doesn't see the songs that I've paid for.

Thanks John. I'll give it a try.

I use WPM11 and it works flawlessly.

The fan noise has been rather non-existent for me so far; at least it hasn't been in any way bothersome. I had brought this up in another thread back when I was still considering one as I had heard from some people that it is annoying.

As for streaming - yes I could very easily set up my PC to handle streaming from WMP; however, most of my files on the PC are downloaded AAC files from iTunes, which wouldn't work. :(

Try using TVersity, that should allow your music files to work on the PS3. I used to use that, but I like Twonky media better. The fan noise on mine is a little annoying, but my original PS3 before I had to have it replaced under warranty never really had the fan come on, but both of my current ones can get a tad noisy after using it for a while.
