Bose tops brand trust survey...

Yep, saw that. I would call that more along the lines of "brand loyalty" because people that buy Bose are already stupid enough to buy their products, so they will continue to be lemmings. If you asked people on forums such as this one, Bose would be off the chart in the other direction...so it really matters who you're asking :) Tailor your research to give you the results you want and that's what you will get.

I can understand Microsoft, but what's up with LG?

That list is about backwards to me. I don't have any trust problems with Microsoft, I don't trust Sony at all, and I certainly don't trust Bose.

It does seem to represent the general public. Household names are trusted. RCA and Zenith? They haven't made decent stuff for over a decade but the general public recognizes the names.

Appearently a lot of people don't care about quality or longevity either. I know people that buy the cheap electronics from Wal-Mart. When they break in a year or so, they buy some more cheap electronics.

I buy quality and keep it as long as it's useful. Sony CRT TV's have had terrible reliability in the past ten years. However, people keep buying them. Yes, they have good picture quality but I wouldn't hesitate to put a Sony up against my Sanyo CRT.

A survey is only as credible as the source, and I am not going to be trusting a turtle :p

I don't know where you got your info, but my Sony CRTs have done fine for years. My previous one, that I sold to my friend, is almost 10 years old with zero issues. I actually like the color and picture of Panasonic CRTs better, but the Sonys have a few features that I really like such as the ability to have different settings for different sources.

My information is from a friend that owns a local electronics shop. He has repaired TV's and other electronics for over 30 years. According to him, Sony quality has dropped like a rock over the past decade. They are overly complicated, very difficult to repair, and have been very problematic. Consumer Reports reliability ratings reflect this as well, not quite as bad as RCA and Zenith (which are at the bottom by far), but I wouldn't buy one.

I have found that the general public is generally clueless. So this does not shock me at all.

I hesitate to put any credence in the Forrester research poll for a couple of reasons: there is no link to the poll set up or test population, the size of the population , and or how they were selected. The way this poll was presented makes my think that it was set up as a marketing tool that could be sold by Forrester Research to the companies listed. I tried to get some info about the survety from their website, but didn't see any.
