Bose Subwoofer Denon AVR 3805

I recently purchased a Denon AVR 3805. I have two Infinity P362 towers 4 small bose speakers and the bose acoustomass sub. I have been using and aftermarket mic to use the auto setup feature on the Denon which seems to be working fine. However when i go through the auto setup it reaches the subwoofer portion no sound is made it just skips it. The bose subwoofer is hooked up to two of the bose speakers. Was wandering if anyone could help me get the auto setup to recognize the subwoofer any help would be apperciatied thank you very much.

Bose systems don't play nicely with receivers.

To be recognized, a subwoofer must be connected to the receivers subwoofer/LFE output, and possib;y the receiver needs to be told it's there.

And, unless said subwoofer connected to the receivers subwoofer/LFE output has a built in power amplifier, it won't recognize it.

That bose setup isn't a subwoofer. It's a common "bass box" whose main function is to prevent any lows from going to those tiny satellites. It won't work when connected to a LFE output. My $$ is on it being connected to the receiver's speaker outputs.

Not possible. The Bose does not have a sub. It is a bass module which does not get into sub territory and is not driven from the LFE output.

Bose systems are not really compatible with AVRs or home theater. Basically they are a fraud and not worth two cents.

I suggest you ditch that bose sub and pick up a Dayton sub from our store.

You'll be amazed at the difference.

I would try to sell the bose.

If it's a passive subwoofer it will not be detected. All Bose acoustimas modules are either passive or require dual connection (sub out/speaker input).

Yeah man like almost everyone has said,bozo sucks and are not worth the fake mdf they are made with.I would suggest getting a used sub or DIY'n it.What if any could you spend on a sub right now? That would be a big help in pointing you in the right direction.Its ok though, the rest of your system is good.Just ditch the bose crap and use the 362's for now............

I just had to read any thread that had a title coupling a Powerful receiver like a 3805 with the infamous Blose Accoustimass Submodule! Whoa. I think you just blew my mind.

There is good news here. Bose is very easy to sell on ebay and you can recoup most of your money.

Thanks all for the help guys. I always wondered about the bose systems seems like they have a great marketing and an easy setup for the average user. However it's all i got to work with at the moment, will prolly sell it soon though. Another question may sound a bit novice, what would be the best type of speaker i could buy for the rear surrournd sound bookshelf or towers ect.? Any help would be awesome. You guys are great.

For rear surround get a pair of bookshelf speakers or wall mountables. Towers are generally reserved for the the front. You don't need a lot of speaker in the rear.

Under no circumstance, change the receiver (to get something that will work with the Bose stuff). Just needed to say it .

I prefer bipole speakers for my surrounds personally....I have tried bookshelves and towers and I just prefer the ambiance that a good pair of bipoles can offer.

That was my problem. Spent at least an hour trying to figure out why it wouldn't work with any sub I had.
