first I have to say i am not a bose fan and would never buy anything from them.
So my friend has the PS48 it has 5 speakers, sub, and DVD player.
when watching a DVD in stereo mode everything works fine, once you change it to surround mode all the speakers turn on but the dialogue for some reason is extremely low where you can barely hear it
any ideas?

It sound's like a problem with the center speaker. If the speaker is not connected, not turned up, or simply doesn't work, you get exactly what you are describing when set to surround mode.

That was the exact problem, after switch wires and speakers I found that something worng with the center channel cable.

One end that connects to the bass module has the same end as on a RCA cable the other side has a connector which connects to the bose speaker.

I was wonerding if I could just use an RCA cable cut off the end on one side and connect the connector off the existing cable onto the new rca's other end?

thanks
