Im not on a super tight budget, but since I do like the speakers I have, I am just in need of a new receiver, blu ray and I should probably get a working sub woofer. If I buy the ones I mentioned before, I am around $600. plus about $200. for the woofer. I can live with that. And yes, I will move the old receiver to my garage and hook up some older speakers just to have music out there. Also I love to tinker with things, so I will come up with a way to make the Bose work in my garage, trust me I never give up. I am currently working on getting a Sony RDR VX515 DVD/VHS recorder. to work that the DVD part is not getting power. I can't help myself, I like to take things apart.

Why the Sony 800 bluray player? Might consider the 700 instead to save some $ or is there a specific reason for the 800? Garage systems are a great place to move older gear to :)

I am not sure about the 800. My friend recommended it. I think it had to do with the decoders? I will ask him, Thanks

That sub is not worth the time, effort or money to try to get it to work with a normal system. Cut your losses now and see if you can sell it. What kind of budget do you have for a sub? There are some relatively cheap models that will outperform anything made by Bose AND... will work with your system.
Yeah I’d hardly even call it a subwoofer more like a woofer to wimpy to produce anything but mid bass .

Just to give you an idea what's on my mind...

HTIB = Home Theater In a Box. Kinda Bose's thing.
Yeah sell the Bose system to one of there target consumers , non audiophiles... elderly and those with bad hearing . Not to keen tinnitus, bearded dragon from Planet X .
