Bookshelf speakers

Good day everyone,

I am posting this because I do not have a lot of time before I make my decision, so I need your help to narrow down my choices.

I need a pair of bookshelf for my bedroom. The source is CD Arcam CD73, the receiver is a Harman Kardon stereo (675 I believe, I am not sure it's 5 years old. A friend will sell it to me for CAD $200).

Ideally, I'd like to spend between $500 & $ 600 (max).

I'd to have 4 brands max to shop for, as I will buy them on Monday the latest.

Speaker options.

You should have several speaker options up there. Look for Paradigm, PSB, and Axiom Audio bookshelf speakers for starters.
Also, you can find some of the new model refurbished HK stereo receivers for <$200 US so you might negociate a better deal or compare the specs.

The H/K is a temporary solution. I am paying $200 this year and sell it $100 next year (or so).

I'll have a good CD player, I want good bookshelves, and next year will complete with a good integrated receiver...

Then I won't go out of my bedroom anymore !!!

A real good bookshelves are the Onix Ref 1... But you'll need $999 bucks to get a pair. I think the extra effort worths it...

I have a pair of the Ref 1's and would recommend them. They have a couple pairs on audiogon for $600 or less.
