Sorry if this is a stupid question but do blu-ray players play CD's? If they do are they better than ha veing a stand alone cd player? And is the picture quality better on a 2000$ player than a 250$one or is the extra money just for bells and whisles? forgive my spelling and many thanks for your help and time!:)

My PS3 plays audio CD's so I would guess they all do but I am no authority on all BD players.
Picture quality I would think would be the same or very close, think one of the big differences is in up scaling DVD's, again no authority. Others will chime in..

I can't think of a BD player that doesn't play CDs. They are not any better at it. Considering the fact that most of them have slower load times they could be considered worse. It's more of the convenience of having one player that does it all.
The higher priced players, aside from having more bells, whistles, and format capability, generally have better video processing chips. Whether or not the difference is visible is debatable and depends on the display they are viewed on.

about the cd question, they do play them but i like having a stand alone cd player instead of a blu ray for cds. when i first bought my blu player i didnt have a cd player yet so i used my blu ray to play cds for the first few weeks. it was a terrible way to do things and i ended up not listening to much music. i bought a 5 cd changer for $200 and have been much more happy with that

IMHO the one of the best Blu-ray players out now is the Panasonic DMP-BD35 - it will do most anything the more expensive players do (except HD audio analog out and SACD) with exceptional video and audio quality and is selling for under $250 these dayz.
