As some of you know, I’ve been b****ing up a storm about Netflix’s decision to give in to Warner Bros. demand that they not rent new release DVDs until after a 28-day window has expired. Today, Redbox, has announced they’ll do the exact same thing. Simply put, this is another blow to consumers and a big potential win for piracy.

I don't see how this will possibly play out the way Warner thinks it will (more DVD sales), but what do I know?

It's up there with GM and Chrysler being more profitable by closing dealers.

I'm not going to run out and buy a DVD. I'll either wait, or find aDVD store to rent it from.

With new releases going from the big screen to dvd so fast these days, waiting an extra 28 days really isn't that big of a deal to me. I've got plenty of other movies, video games, dvr'd shows, and other things to keep me busy. Besides, if it's a movie I just gotta see right away, I know how to find it online, then once it becomes available to rent, I'll watch it again... maybe. F warner for this, and for not putting lossless audio tracks on a lot of their blu ray discs that aren't movies.

Now that Netflix and redbox have made this agreement, I'm sure they will be going after Blockbuster next, and I really hope they don't cave in, especially since I use their online rental service.
