Take-Two's Strauss Zelnick says they're moving forward with the franchise, with or without 2K Marin.

Development duties for the next Bioshock might shift once more due to 2K Marin's involvement with X-COM. Take-Two chairman Strauss Zelnick confirmed as much during the company's second quarter financial call yesterday (via IGN). "We think BioShock is still one of the most important franchises in the industry," Zelnick delared. "We do intend to support it; doesn't necessarily have to be at 2K Marin, but we do intend to support the franchise."
That support starts with additional DLC for Bioshock 2. "First and foremost, we're focused on downloadable content. We intend to continue to support BioShock 2 with further downloadable content," explained the Take-Two chairman, adding, "We think the franchise has a long life indeed."
Whoever ultimately gets tapped to work on the next Bioshock, we can rest assured that a sequel is indeed coming. As 2K Games president Cristoph Hartmann once said, "If we spin [Bioshock] the right way and get the right twist of innovation, we can make six parts of it, as Star Wars did."
Don't know about you, but we're especially looking forward to Bioshock 6: The One With Ewoks.
