I'm always leery when someone wants to be contacted before you bid. Sounds Scamtastic to me.

Well i'm not sure but i think by e-bay laws if i bid and win the auction for like 100.00 bucks the seller has to sell it to me if there is no reseve price.
Right or am I wrong?

I think so.

Just read the fine print...including, but not limited to shipping a 100 lb. expensive electronic item from the UK to CA could easily run a grand or two, especially if it's at the seller's option. Not to mention insurance...handling...etc., etc., etc.

Damn........Could shipping really run that high? I would think they would have to disclose that. Imagine buying a new car and then they said there was a 20,000 handling tax!!

Also note that this "seller" appears to have no comments in the "from buyers" section. He may have bought 33 items with no issues but this one is a sale and its his 1st and its in the UK.

It's a stolen account. If you email the seller, he'll offer to sell it outside of ebay so he "won't have to list it again".

I just e-mailed the so called seller, And this is what the response I got

Me: What is wrong with this unit? And why is it so cheap with no reserve?

Seller: Thank you for understanding and mailed me beofre takeing any auctions on ebay. First thing i want to tell you that all my units are brand new in sealed box and come with all accesories included.
I'm a authorized dealer and i provide original warranty maded directly from the factory. The best price that i can give you for this unit is 1000 US Dollars.
I have more than one unit available.I can provide big discounts if you will buy more than one unit. To be 100% protected we will make this deal under ebay and if something goes wrong, you will receive all your money back including western union fees. Shipping will be made from Europe by UPS and in 40 hours you will have it. I will pay the shipping and handling fees.
Do not bid on it because I have more units available and I do not want to make more listings and pay more fees to eBay. So if you are interesed please let me know asap and we can talk more about the discounts and your security if you will buy from me.

Me: Well what happens if I bid on it and get it for less than 1,000?

Seller: this is a private listing...you don't need to bid.nobody has to bid.you can buy the item right now directly from me.the price is fix. please let me know

Me: So i would not be able to place a bid on this auction? And win it for less than 1,000?

Seller: NO!

I guess the question you need to ask yourself is how can an "authorized" dealer sell Denon's flagship receiver at 80% below Denon's msrp? Not to mention breaking e-bay rules. If it sounds too good to be true...caveat emptor. Ask the guy for the serial # and see if he replies.

Nice - I had a similar item I was looking at a while ago (don' remember what it was). They wanted me to contact them first and figured it was too sketchy. :D

stay away from that thief

NEVER EVER use the email links in that type ebay scam to contact the seller, you'll be lucky if your ebay account isnt one of the next round of acounts to be hijacked.

I thought of that so I used a different e-mail add to contact the seller than the email on my E-bay account.

Definitely a scam

No need to email them and no need to bid. This type of scam has been going on for some time on ebay.

I agree totally.

This is the Classic Ebay scam. When I'm bored sometimes while looking for stuff on Ebay, I find obviously hijacked accounts and alert ebay of them, the listing that is the scam usually disappears withing 2 hours.
