Hi

I am new to this forum and I am planning to setup HT in my basement. I am planning to put a Projector. I have 2 rooms..one is 20 X 10 and the other is 40 X 15. Also, I plan to get Yamaha/Denon 7.1 receiver and Paradigm speakers. Can anyone please recommend which model should I go for speaker as well as receiver (for 40 X 15 room)? And also the placement of speakers in that big room. Thanks!

What kind of budget do you have laid out for this project? It sounds like you're building a pretty serious room. Along with speaker placement you need to plan for acoustical treatments and soundproofing to get the most out of your theater equipment.

How much you willing to spend? In a room that big you probably want to get the biggest speakers you can afford. If your listening area doesn’t consist of the entire space a good bookshelf may have enough headroom. You will more than likely need two subs so check out the SVS and HSUs; call them and they will tell you exactly what you need. As far as Paradigms; I was unimpressed with all but the studio and sig line. The studio 100’s should be very pleasant in a room that size. You are going to want a lot of power so check into adding an amp to a AVR that has all the options you are looking for or go with separates.

??

What's the height of the room and are you planning multi-tiers of seating? What size screen are you thinking of using?

Thanks for all your replies...after thinking a lot, I decided to go with the smaller room (20L X 11B X 7H). I got HD70 projector already. Screen size would be abt 100". Need some suggestions on speakers and 7.1 receiver to this size of room. Thanks!:)

If you're still interested in a Paradigm/Denon/Yamaha combo or in any case a budget will help.

IMO, the Pioneer is a better match for the Paradigms.

Also, you might want to look at the HSU Ventreloquist system.

For your budget you might consider speakers in the Monitor line 7/CC290/ADP190/ Mini and for the sub I suggest the SVS PB12-NSD or HSU VTF-3 MK3. The Yamaha 659/661 depending on feature needs will power this system nicely.
