Hello everyone,

Just wanted to start a simple thread on bi-amping speaker cable and to see if anyone else has run across speaker cable that is nicely bundled for bi-amping. The only ones I have found so far are these

http://www.viablue.de/com/speakercable_bi-amping.shtml

They look decent enough and the one site I found had them for a reasonable price, but I wouldn't mind seeing other options. Mostly I am interested in keeping the cable clutter to a minimum.

Should not the LF cable be slightly longer than the HF cable:rolleyes:

Let us know if you can hear the difference. I will say they look dang nicer than my aged ZIP cord.

You certainly don't need silver speaker cables, or silver plated ones.
You can find 4 conductor cables with one outer jacket at a local Home Depot. Or, some buy it on line but I don't have that link for you.

Are you really bi-amping or buy-wiring? Leaving in the passive crossovers will just about negate the bi-amping benefits that can be gained from active crossovers and bypassing the passive ones.

I don't know how much those things cost, but I'd bet it's not worth it :D

Haha, you guys may well be right about the cable being too expensive, the only site I found had prices in Honk Kong dollars and came to about $250 US a pair...which judging from what is out there is far from the most expensive. But I have decided on a more frugal approach and I am going with this Canare cable, should cost me about $30 including shipping.

As for bi-amping with the passive crossovers still in the speakers; yes, I am leaving them in. My speaker and technical knowledge aren't quite at the level where I would feel comfortable taking apart my speakers (my first "serious" ones). I will be using the bi-amp mode in my yet to be purchased Yamaha receiver to get four channels of power to my fronts when listening to music, just to increase the power headroom...and to see if there is any benefit to bi-amping in this manner.

Thanks for the thoughts guys :)

RiteAV.com has Belden speaker cable with a white jacket in 16/14/12/10 with either 2 or 4 wires (except the 10 gauge which you can only get in 10/2). The wire colors are red black green and white so you don't get them mixed up. You can buy it by the foot or in 500' spools. You can get them with two different types of banana plugs or with spade connectors. Right now I run two bundles of 10/2 that I ordered from bluejeans. I am moving soon and plan on running the 14 or 12 to all my speakers.

This may be a twist on "Bi-Amping". I have a 5.1 set-up on a 7.1 amp. I am using my extra 2 channels from my amp (200x7) by connecting the additoanl LF posts on my main speakers.
This allows separate HF and separate LF cabling from the amp to my floor speeakers. Though its not technically separate amps - it is enhanced by using separate channels. Considering the amp is cabable and the speakers are capable - this seems like a nice approach.

It was suggested that I use type 4 ($4/ft) for the LF and CV4 ($10/ft) for the HF - perhaps for cost purposes.

All my speakers are biampable. I use Canare Quad Star 4s11 speaker cable for all of them. I find them to be the best bang for the buck. It is more expensive than lamp cord, for sure, but much less expensive than boutique cables. It is for sale all over ebay. I bought it unterminated. If it was visible I had they cable person put on techflex to make it look nice. I think my long runs were about $100. That was for 52' of cable with techflex. I am very happy with it. It looks pretty impressive as it is like a half inch thick!
