Beware Audio Advisor

I've usually had good luck with A A in the past but this time met with some disappointment. I recently purchased some Cardas 8x crosslink speaker cables terminated by Audio Advisor (by someone with 20 yrs. experience). Some of the spades were bent and/or covered with excess solder. When I tried to post and Honest review to that fact on the Audio Advisor website it was censored.

Um, while I can see that being a bit annoying, you didn't state that you gave them a chance to make it right. I think I speak on the behalf of not a few here, when I say that any company will screw up once in a while; it's about how they take care of the issue that matters.

Secondly, I think it's lame that your first post here is to complain about this. What does that say about you? You have nothing to offer here until you have a complaint about damaged speaker wire?

Thirdly, I'm not sure how much empathy you will get here when you're talking about speaker wire that is selling for $225 for a 6ft pair, to $600 for a 20ft pair. I don't know what you've been doing with your 20 years of experience.

Did you give them a chance to correct the problem?

I've dealt with them for years and have had nothing but good experiences with them. Customer service has always been excellent. I've recommended them before and will do so again.

Why? They deserve it.

After all, stuff happens. It's how a company handles problems that makes or breaks a company.

Since you say you've had good experiences with them, I would expect that you would have given them a chance to correct the problem before ragging them on the internet.

I find the fact that you omit mentioning that step of the process quite curious.

BTW, nice first post.

Seriously, I have no life.
... I don't know what you've been doing with your 20 years of experience.
I think he was referring to the guy at A A who did the soldering job, not his 20 year experience. But, I have been known to read what is not in print;):D

I've used AudioAdvisor without issue for years as well.

To the OP, I would tell them they are not what you expected and that you would like them replaced. Any decent company will likely do this for you. Soldering spades onto speaker wire is pretty much useless anyway. There is no sonic benefit.

:)
I still like Audio Advisor. I have bought several items from them at reasonable prices with prompt and professional service. It's partly because they've been so reliable with everything else that I was horrified when I saw my cable terminations. Thankfully, I was able to clean and straighten the spades and the cables sound great (as expected for "magic cables"). Maybe I was expecting too much, after all, these are 6awg cables and probably darn near impossible to work with.
Thank you everyone for your feedback, insights and patience. I appreciate and respect some of your humor and even incredulity (..."Overpriced magic cables"). Besides, I really didn't expect much sympathy if any ("I'm not sure how much empathy you will get ...").

Did you address the issue with AA? If so, what did they say?

all I know is that the forums over their are quite entertaining to read, especially the two threads in the cabling forum! :D:D:D

Which AA are you referring to?

We're talking about Audio Advisor. I thinking you're thinking another one where insanity and delusion is the norm, particularly in the cable asylum.

No, I was talking about audio advisor, mainly the threads on power cables and high end wires... and the way the salesmen from the site defend break in of cables. That is actually the first time I have seen the site, and noticed they had a forum, so I checked it out. I always enjoy observing a good cable discussion! :)

Of course, you need to burn-in new cables!

If you don't keep them hot, how are you going to minimize the time it takes for the plastic sheathing to outgas all that sizer? (The chemicals which provide that distinctive "new plastic" odor.) Getting high on the fumes may seriously distort your appreciation of the music coming out of the speakers. ;)

I bought a 20-amp receptacle from Home Depot for my ATI3005 amp for $5.

Then I saw that Audio Advisor was selling them for like $60.:D

But the best of all was the Power Cable for about $1,000. That is priceless.:D
