I still stand with what I recommended within your budget, which you didn't acknowledge. The Pioneers 52's(Tigerdirect.com has sales on them for $100 each shipped) are fantastic and work great with Music and HT I owned them for 3 weeks until well...read my sig.
Your recommendation was definately not ignored, I looked into it but with the good feedback on the Pioneer SP-FS52-LR paired with the 59 reviews on amazon, 46 of which are 5 star reviews, 11 4 star reviews, and just 2 3 star reviews with no 2's or 1's, the decision made itself. Sorry for not mentioning any thing about your input but after researching and hunting down reviews these speakers seem to fit my needs for the moment. I was pretty sure at first that I would go with the Infinitys then my mind was changed as soon as I started reading up on these. Will post a review when everything is setup the speakers are set for delivery on the 22nd and the receiver is set for the 26th a week or two after that I will hopefully be on here looking for advise on either surrounds, rears, or a sub it all depends on how well these fill the room as to which will come first.

Again thanks everyone for your helpful comments/advise/input.

With a $500 budget, you are good for the long haul. You will find the Pio's provide very clean bass. The Infinities produce a bit more bass, but it gets muddy if you crank it.

Hey, sorry to go off topic but can an admin please tell me how i can view the notifications I had received about being "nicer to people trying to help me"? I had at least 2 of those maybe 3 but the 3rd one looked to be a message. I cannot find these in my inbox or notifications after reading the first one. Would like to see them all. Thank you.

I had the same problem I wanted a home theater in the box but it wasn't good to me do I bought all my speakers separate off newegg.con they have great deals on polk audio speakers and wow what a difference that would be your best bet honestly like right now they have the yamaha rx 373 (it had GREAT reviews) receiver on sale for 177 that's a steal it has 500 watts and that's more than enough power unless you want your windows to crack and the have the psw10 polk audio sub for 77$ I would just by desperate speakers you'll be very happy you might spend 50-100 dollars more than 500$ but its worth it once your wife here's it she'll be blown away

Hello all, new member first time posting! I'm looking for input on what you guys would start out building your home theater system with. I'm looking for a sound receiver & two front speakers to start. I'd like to stay under $500 for them & add on as the money becomes available (Fiance is wedding planning so who knows when that'll be haha). We recently purchased this Amazon.com: Onkyo HT-S5400 7.1-Channel Home Theater System: Electronics but took it back tonight because it just didn't do it for me. The bass wasn't crisp at all and the rear speakers had terrible distortion. We exchanged for this one Amazon.com: Samsung HT-E6500W 5.1 Channel 1000-Watt 3D Blu-Ray Home Theater System: Electronics and were extremely disappointed within 5 minutes of hooking it up. We've realized that no theater in a box in our price range right now will satisfy, so we've decided to build our own. What are your suggestions?
Center:Newegg.Com - Open Box: Polk Audio CS1 Series II Center Channel Speaker (Black) Each 89.99&
Bookshelfs x4:Polk Audio T15 Bookshelf Speakers, Pair, Black:Amazon:Electronics 189.77
Sub:psw10 Newegg.Com - Polk Audio PSW Series PSW10 Black 10-inch Powered Subwoofer Each 79.00$
Receiver: Newegg.Com - YAMAHA RX-V373BL 5.1-Channel AV Receiver 177.00$

Total:535$. And everything on newegg.com is tax free and shipping free you will not be able to get a better 5.1 system than this for 500$ I promise better act fast

I don't want a 5.1 system for $500 I'm sorry but I have said this time and time again on this thread... all I was buying with the initial $500 was a Receiver and Main Speakers. Thanks for your suggestion though.

This kinda contradicts your saying you only want mains.

Unless, of course, we're not talking speakers here.
^^ lol no that was just one of my overall goals when I finally get the complete setup mark :)

I would recommend for you to save up first and then buy. Trust me, I am currently looking in to replacing my whole set up already. Probably will do this by replacing a couple of speakers at a time.

AVR: Pioneer VSX-1122-k currently on sale at newegg.com for $358.

EMP Tek
Left / Right and Surround Left / Right
E5Bi Bookshelf speakers X 2 $500

Center Channel
E56Ci Center Channel X 1 $450

Subwoofer
ES1010i Subwoofer (Dual 10" Sub) x 1 $324.

Emp Tek has their sub on sale right now for $324. So, if you can afford the difference $324 - $193 = $131 more over your budget.

For a total of $1274.00 for speakers only. Emp Tek has a free 30 Day return policy if you don't like them.

Total with AVR $1274 + $358 = $1632

HTD Speakers
Level 3 Bookshelf x 2 $598
Lever 3 Center x 1 $199
Level 3 Sub x 1 $429

Total $1226 for speakers only. If you buy the VSX-1122K receiver for a total of $1226 + $358 = $1584 This doesn't include tax or any shipping if applicable.

HTD has a 30 day Free return policy if you don't like them.

If you want to go the more inexpensive router, and most likely you will want to upgrade later like I am doing. I would recommend

Pioneer FS52 towers x 2 $200
Pioneer CS22 center x 1 $100
Pioneer BS22 bookshelf x 2 $200
Sub Klipsch RW-12D x 1 $280 (on sale at newegg)

Total $780 on speakers. This doesn't include tax or shipping if applicable.

Total with AVR $780 + $358 = $1138 This is for a 7.1 set up.

I don't know of a single person who agrees with this.

How much better is 20x better? That statement alone negates any credibility... But yeah, the Pioneers easily sound a million times better than the Polks... :p

I didn't like the Pioneers either, but a lot of other people do. The Monitor series from Polk Audio are the ones I've got for the front Monitor 70s series II, but they have been discontinued and the replacements cost more.

Seriously, are you proud of your ignorance about this hobby and apparent illiteracy? It sure seems so.
