Best Receiver for $2500?

So looking at:

Denon AVR 2311ci ($550)

Marantz SR6005 ($600)

Yamaha RX A1000 ($700)

Any feedback or ones that i should add to the list?

All are solid models with a good build rep. It all boils down to the features and what you find more intuitive to use. You cannot go wrong with any one of them.

The Denon 2311 doesn't have full pre outs so you can't use an external amp.

The Denon and Marantz both have Audyssey Multi EQ

The Yamaha has YPAO instead of Audyssey, but has internet connectivity that the Denon and Marantz don't. I think that allows you to do firmware updates via internet.

I have recently gotten the Yamaha RXA800. My main complaint is the HD radio tuner is nearly worthless out of the box. I haven't tried upgrading the firmware or an amplified antenna. Without internet connectivity Yamaha has you burn a cd to do the firmware updates. The internet connectivity is probably worth the cost difference between the 800 and the 1000 models.

I would take the Yamaha RX-A1000. No question about it in my mind. Superb pre-pro section measurements. Latest great features. Has 7.1 pre-out just in case you need more power.

Another option is that I could buy the UMC-1 for $500, get 40%off the XMC-1 when it comes out which would pretty much cover the cost of the UMC-1. I know there have been some problems with the UMC-1 but doing the upgrade program I could almost get that whole amount applied to the XMC-1. I know it's not out yet, but with the firmware updates would the UMC-1 be as good as the Yammy?

Yikes...Peng those speakers list for ~$6000 pr...they better sound excellent....

I didn't know he specified a buget number. I have the impression that he is looking for speakers that are small enough to disappear in his room yet still sound good. I heard those little Totem at Bay Bloor driven by a small intergrated NAD (75WX2 I think) and they sounded great.

All you need to do is look at the opening post. $6k is for the speakers, receiver, and BD player. The distribution of the money has already been altered from the original idea to favor speakers, but it would take a good sale to have a pair of $6k speakers and enable a subwoofer, other speakers, receiver, and BD player for anywhere near $6k total.
