Hello: I am new to the audioholics form and have been reviewing a lot of the postings trying to decide on a new receiver. As you know were coming to the end of another year and there will be many “best of 2009” lists. I was wondering if some form members would post their top three receivers for 2009 that they would purchase if they were purchasing today.
Thanks very much!!! Keep those great posts coming.

Paul :D

All receiver are equally good. There is no "best" when you put receiver in the same price range into an actual use scenario and then compare the performance. All that matters is, which features are important and how much money one is willing to spend.

I don't have a list of 3, mainly because my receiver experience is very limited. But I can tell you that answers to this question will vary wildly if you don't give a high end amount that you are willing to spend. You should also list what speakers you will be using, what size room, and if you will be using it primarily for music, home theater, or both. This is a good starting point. From there I'm sure the audio gurus around here can give you some good advice.

Good Luck~

Any budget... just wonering what members would think their favoriate receiver is for 2009.

I have been looking at reviews on this site and other sites for about two weeks and frankly its giving me a headache. There is so much info out there and some many different opinions. What I am looking for is a receiver that will not run too hot, easy to set up, run HDMI from my HD cable box, HD tv and PS3, sound good and will still be reliable in 10 years or so. So I dont know should I buy a $600 dollar receiver or move upto a $1500 receiver. I have a 5.1 sony surround that i bought about 6 years ago and it sounds great but no hdmi any suggestions.

Thanks..
