Best place to buy speaker stands?

I am trying to find a decent speaker stand for my Polk satellites. I am in the process of researching new speakers and most likely will end up with floor standing speakers so i dont want to mount my current speakers to the wall if i dont have to. Figure i can get by with them on stands until i find a replacement.

Buy a pair of Sanus. They are easy to put together and that's not common among speaker stands.

www.partsexpress.com has some new models they just released and they look pretty decent, esepecially the ones with the glass bottom platforms. I am a big fan of their High Mass stands, but they aren't cheap in terms of stands - I use them for my mains. They carry various Sanus models as well.

Is DIY a possibility? There are also endless numbers of household items that could be used as cheap stands if they are just temporary.

I really like that idea since it would require few tools and be pretty cheap.

Just get lowes to make the cuts for you and then finish or paint the wood. Screw them together and walla.

I was cleaning out the garage and found some stands my father used for his junk that i may be able to make work. Would save me some money that i can put towards my new speakers!
