20hz is low but 16hz you just feel shaking. Lots of audio/movie buffs want their their subs to go down to 16hz/18hz. It makes enough difference to them that its worth it. To some its over kill, just depends on your listening preference.

It's totally worth it. ;) The extra headroom alone makes it an easy choice, for me at least (see below why that's important) If I was the OP, though, I'd calculate which is the cheapest after shipping and buy that one.

From the PB12-Plus review:

"Why not test this speaker up to 80 Hz? Surely it is important, no? Yes of course. Two primary reasons I believe that the CEA standard excludes an 80 Hz measurement. Any large sub will be amplification limited by the time it is going as high as 63 Hz. Looking at 80 Hz will add little to the value of the testing. The reason the SV Sound sub limits at 122.8 Hz for both 50 and 63 Hz is not simple coincidence. This is the point at which the amplifier “runs out of gas”, in this case the compressor itself puts on the brakes to continue the analogy. Going higher in frequency should not yield a different result with any real serious subwoofer. Let's also bear in mind the CEA pulse signal centered at 63 Hz is only 3dB down at 80 Hz, so if the sub was falling off that low it would affect the 63 Hz measurement as well."

I would go for the SVS because

Hey i did the same research like a month ago, finding out the best subwoofer for the price range of $500 to $700, and with all the responses from my fellow audioholics members and multiple reviews on other sites, I decided to go wit the SVS PB12-NSD Sub because:

A) It will be the the best bang for your buck (value for money)
B) the total price is like $769 and that includes shipping (affordabilty)
C) even though its big, it looks nice (Supereor looks)
D) great customer service from SVS (support staff)
E) It will last a long time (reliability)
F) very powerful and great quality (great engineering)

with all these factors and more, I did decide on the SVS PB12-NSD Sub, dont get me wrong the Rhythemic is a great sub, but when you compare it all around, I would not hesistate to buy the SVS, all the best

I believe he's narrowed it down to the Rythmik and PB12-Plus (not the NSD), for what it's worth. The Rythmik being discussed is the $1200 FV15HP and is far more capable than the NSD. No offense.

The price difference is literally $20 which includes shipping on both. .Both customer service teams are great. Both subs look pretty good,I do give a very very slight edge to the pb12plus.The SVS's amp has more power but seems to cut out a bit on the higher end of the spectrum, unless I misunderstood Nuance's post a few back. The Rythmik has a few DB more at higher frequencies. This is really a tough decision.I have seen both tons and tons of positive reviews on both and of course some negative reviews on both as well.

Just buy both. And then don't return either one. :D

LOL now that would be awesome.I would be evicted in the first day at my condo.I would then have to also have back surgery for attempting to lift them both into my new place when I get booted.Oh yeah not too mention almost $3000 instead of $1400.But maybe you never know I suppose.

The one thing that does suck is if I wanted the piano black in the FV15HP it would cost almost $200 more than the piano black pb12plus

Well there you go. If you want piano black that just helped you make your decision: SVS :)

The more I read of the reviews they did here on the 2 subs the more I think I have to do the Rythmik and just do the regular black.

Again I wish I could afford to get the PB13 ultra but I am down to the PB12 plus and the Rythmik FV15HP.And I am leaning towards the FV15HP.

I would hands down get the FV-15HP over the Plus. Both are EXCELLENT subs but the FV-15HP actually has more deep bass output than even the 13Ultra so....
