I've seen those Sanus Fabers in person. Very nice! It's all different in person. However, I wasn't allowed to hear them, as I pulled up in a Honda Civic.

I like comtemporary speakers over giant skyscrapers.
Aurum Cantus Makes some nice, classy looking speakers.

Aurum Cantus speakers also sound good (at least the ones I have heard), and are more reasonably priced than they look. My wife likes the looks of ours very much:

And:

They look better in person than any pictures I have ever seen.

To be honest... I love the woodwork on those Salk speakers, and Im sure they sound absolutely spectacular but I really don't think they are pretty... I want a sexy looking speaker.... Like a fine, sleek, sexy car.....

Clean lines, excellent craftsmanship, amazing finish... Some thing that draws my eyes to it, and are pleased...

I agree, the Salks are certainly well made but not terribly attractive.

I call that the Coffin Box Effect. The Wilson line of speakers seem to have that look, as well as many other hi end speaks.
"his last words were- bury me in my Watt Puppy's"

I've always found that the Jamo Concert 8 and Concert 11 speakers, for being a conventional box, have a striking appearance thanks to the roundover profiles and the contrast of the front baffle to the main enclosure and the drivers themselves.

I'm also a big fan of the Wilson designs:

Among my absolute favorites in appearance are the B&W 800 series and the Sonus Faber Cremona series, but these have already been posted.

Monitor sized prefered

Two things strike me, the abundance of ribbon tweeters which almost all have problems with distortion especially at frequencies below 4kHz and that almost all are imposing towers. I really prefer the appearance of monitor sized speakers supplemented with a sub or two. I do like the looks of drivers and have come to find the ScanSpeak sliced cone mid-woofers to be a testament to function over form. They can be crossed over low to a pretty dome such as my Eton Magnesium/ceramic tweeters and sounds better than ribbons to my ears. Now Maggies get ribbons right.
