Best Front Projector for less than $8,000???

I am a newby! Need some advice on a new projector for my house. My max budget is $8K...Looking forward for the replies.Thanks! I am using a Stewart Screen 2:40:1.

The RS25 is their call, and the JVC RS series in general has excellent reviews. The Epson 9500UB would be a lot less and be excellent, but if you really are looking for a great image, I would go with the JVC.

I'm sure Panamorph is great, and I've heard of hi-end setups using them, but isn't the ISCO III the lens of choice?

The AVS Store had a great deal on the RS35. They are b-stock but have been calibrated. Not sure if they are sold out but worth a look.

Ah, a good deal on a reference PJ. Though still past my price point. Oh wait, those aren't RS35, but the RS25. Pretty much the same thing, but still . . .

If I knew before it was too late, the recent JVC RS20 sale over there, for $2999, as NIB (AFAIK), would probably have got me to swap out my RS1. Now, THAT was a great value.

OTOH, sometimes not knowing about great sales saves me money, haha.

What is the differences between the JVC lineup vs the Anthem LTX-500????

Here are a few things I've read, by people who know their business pretty well:

They are rebadged RS10 and RS20. The only difference is the band color on the lens. That's it. They have a limited license to sell them but only as part of an Anthem system. A dealer can not sell them separately or order them separately. For those who purchased an Anthem system a few months back, the license agreement allows fullfillment to that customer. The pricing and dealer costs are very close to the same as most JVC dealers pay . This is truly nothing. I guess for a Paradigm`Anthem brand loyalist, both great brands by the way, there might be something to a RS20 branded an Anthem. But they are exactly the same. I am sure and they do not have the new software loaded either yet.

They are rebadged JVC projectors, and the MSRP is $500 higher than the JVC equivalent. For that premium, you get a voucher for $200 towards a lamp and a "white glove" service package that includes next-day replacement for defective units.

Oh yeah, Anthem calls it LCOS, whereas JVC calls it D-ILA. Same thing though. Though, JVC makes their chips differently than Sony, for instance, still based on the same tech.


Basically, if you're buying Anthem, you're buying some package thing from a dealer. Maybe an SI screen. Perhaps with Paradigm speakers.

From my limited experiences, most dealers ask for waaaay more than I can find for myself, online. Unfortunately.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet: the LTX 500 is a phenomenal projector capable of running circles around the competition. With a retail price just shy of $7,500 the LTX 500 isn't the most affordable projector out there, however it is one of the best and must be viewed and considered competition for projectors retailing for as much as $25,000. If the LTX 500's price tag is just out of reach there is always the LTX 300, which gives up little to its big brother in terms of performance yet shaves a cool $2,000 off the asking price. I adore the LTX 500

As wonderful as the LTX 500 is, there were a few minor areas that I took issue with. For starters, the LTX 500 takes a fair amount of time to warm up or even begin to produce an image and the initial signal lock is a bit sluggish. Once warmed up and locked on the LTX 500 is rock solid, however the first few times I powered it up I wasn't sure if I actually did and ended up turning it off by accident only to start the whole process over again. Urgh.
