I currently have def tech 7001 mains and a def tech center. I hate the center channel and am looking for something better. Any opinions on a good match? Also I have a 73" tv and I'll be mounting it above it on the wall. Thanks for any replies.

I am not really sure about the best center channel speaker but I am interested in your 73" tv. Is it a real tv or projector onto a 73" screen? If it is a real tv where did you get it? what kind? Just interested. thanks

As far as I know, mitsubishi is the only manufacturer of 73" displays and they are all dlp tvs.

I'd get another Def Tech speaker to match what you already have, when it comes to sound matching and imaging.

It's not a real tv. Yes it's the mitsu. I like it.
I know I should stay with like brands, but I need something that mounts to the wall. The big ol def tec centers don't help me there. I saw the mythos solo xl which looks nice, but not sure if it can be used as a true center.

I changed my def tech pro center 1000 ($220) with def tech CLR 2002 ($529)
My center def tech Clr 2002 now provide more effective sound at an efficient cost.

I'd go that route if I had some way of mounting it above my tv. I'm not sure they make entertainment centers that big. Is there some kind of mount kit out there that allows me to put it above my tv? I might have to see about putting it below. Not optimal in my opinion.

Below works fine or you can buy a kit to place it on top of the DLP as long as it doesn't weight too much. I know Sears used to sell the shelf.

you could build a shelf on the wall above your tv. I did for my 67" led dlp and it passes the wife test for now.

Just use two L arm brackets, some lag bolts, and a nice piece of wood you can stain or paint as the same color as the wall. Should only take you a hour or two. Always remember to drill into studs in the wall first before screwing in the lag bolts!

Here are two picks of it when I finished it (before painting it)
