Best Buy pulls HD DVD inventory

That's a lie, never seen any $9.99 HD-DVDs at my BB, been watching weekly since Toshiba pulled the plug!!!
Not all sale prices at BB are advertised or on the shelves. They had unadvertised and unmarked superbit movies on sale for $10 when they were closing them out. The stickers showed full price, $25-30 IIRC. The markdown was taken at the register. Also, occasionally local stores offer special promotions that aren't nationwide. Search to find more examples.

BTW, it's bad etiquette to call some one a liar just because you didn't see something or your local store didn't offer/advertise it.

Did you read the previous post by Jack?

Not to mention, as of March 23rd, there should have been no HD DVD discs in any of their stores. I went last weekend and there were none to be found.

May be he's in Canada. Here BB and FS still have quite a few titles on display, selected ones are on sale for as low as $8.99. I bought a couple from BB on Saturday for $12.99 one of them being King Kong.

Find a couple you like and take them to one of the kids working that section. They can scan them to see what price would be charged at the register. Like I mentioned, sometimes they have unadvertised/unmarked prices on items they are discontinuing. It doesn't always affect each title, sometimes just specific titles or studios.

PENG just reported some as low as $8.99 and King Kong for $12.99. Try having them scan that title and see what comes up.
