Chris Botti Live in Boston is a must own. Incredible audio and with many different types of musical styles it's just fantastic. Steven Tyler is worth the price alone. Sting, Yo Yo Ma and some of the best jazz musicians will definitely show off your system.

Very good disk. I was lucky enough to get this one for my birthday.

Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds Live at Radio City is also killer. Incredible sound quality.

Hmm. I would not go for either of these looking for bass. The Dave and Tim is acoustic so the LFE is quite limited. The Botti concert does have more bass but I would not buy either if that is what you are looking for. I only have movie recommendations for good LFE effects.

Nine Inch Nails - Beside You In Time... One of the best TrueHD tracks I've heard and the video is also amazing.

If you like rock, I'd recommend AC/DC Live in Donnington.

I own that Matthews disc (because my brother used to be quite the fan), as well as three classical discs including the Brandenburg Concertos, NYP in Pyongyang, and the Karajan Memorial Concert (I'm supposed to have a 4th, Beethoven Piano Concertos 1-5, but it didn't arrive Saturday, so maybe tonight), and I've also seen Hendrix as well as the Rolling Stones (BDs my friend brought over). I feel like there was something else, but I can't remember . . .

the best one among the bunch is the Karajan Memorial Concert. It is more challenging to the system than anything else I listed, IMO, as well.

The Matthews disc has easily the best picture quality among those that I listed, but the Karajan has the best camera work of any I listed.

I have noticed with concert discs . . . it is best to put them on last for the day/evening. A movie is such a letdown after a concert. I mean, who would go to a movie after a live concert? Well, some of these BDs make me feel like I am there . . .

One I would have to say to avoid is the Diana Krall Live in Rio.

Is the Hendrix disc good?

As you might guess the video will probably leave you wanting. I saw the non-Criterion version of the Monterey concert. IIRC, I think my friend who brought it over said it was Jimi's first concert in the US???

The reaction at first by the crowd was actually muted in appearance, probably because they were thinking, "What the hell is going on?!". :D

Jimi played with a lot of spirit, especially considering the crowd was rather tame, at least at first. It's been a while though since I've seen it, j, so I'm not too sure about what I'm saying here . . .

I really like Stop Making Sense. It was a cool concert and the show was done in an interesting way. It starts with David Byrne playing a solo acoustic version of Psycho Killer. As the show goes on, more instuments and performers are added to the stage until they have their full 9 piece band.

I'm a big fan of "This Must Be The Place (Naïve Melody)". How does it sound on the BD?

Andrea Bocelli "Live in Tuscany" is also an excellent one on blu, but if you're to ask me for the best overall concert on any disc so far (pic+sound) my vote still goes to: "EAGLES FAREWELL TOUR" on HD-DVD:).

Cheers

Just got the Kansas - No Place Like Home blu ray. It is in dolby digital and stereo only but sounds great. The LFE slams. If you are a Kansas fan it is a must have. These guys look like they just stepped off the AARP tour bus. Makes me feel just as old. HA!

The John Mayer "Where the Light Is" live in LA is a very good concert. I know he is mainly known as a pop artist but this guy can jam some blues on the guitar. The concert is broken up into three parts acoustic, blues, and pop. Definitely worth checking out.

I just got George Michael's "Live in London" as a gift. It's a must have for any GM fan, besides I can't think of any other GM or Wham Concert for that matter, available on DVD or BD ( Wham in China is only on LD or VHS).

One of my favorites is "Elton John 60"
Elton's voice is a bit ragged but the band, most of his original band, is in top form.

Nice picture and sound as well.

That show was on HDNet last month. Great show. I had forgotten how many good songs GM and Wham had. George still sounds good. It was a nice change from all the no-talent hacks that put out music nowadays that sound decent on an album, but suck live.

The stage was AWESOME!! I loved that giant screen that extended down into the floor for GM to walk over. VERY creative, whomever came up with that.
